Making Strides with the Universal Wellness Project
The Universal Wellness Project first took shape when a small group came together in 2007 to discuss the needs of people in our area living with disabilities. Building upon the success of the Universal Playground Project, our group has:

• Continued to expand and add several important perspectives
• Gathered data and statistics related to the current state of need in the Fox Valley and Northeast Wisconsin and lack of accessible facilities
• Worked on creating a case statement to show the importance of making universal wellness a community priority
• Developed a web site explaining the project and seeking support
• Brought key partners to the table such as the YMCA of the Fox Cities and Willems Marketing's ProCommunity Service Team
• Assessed the current status of accessibility and available programs and services at each of the Valley's YMCAs
• Worked on gathering cost information for prospective equipment and facilities
• Held regular planning team meetings at Rehab Tech and other locations to keep the momentum going
• Established a fund with the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region in partnership with the Universal Wellness Project and the YMCA of the Fox Cities
